How to Earn Museum Kudos Guide in OSRS (2024)

Welcome to my guide on how to earn Museum Kudos in the Varrock Museum in Old School RS (OSRS). Kudos are essential for progressing in various quests and diaries, and they also grant experience rewards in different skills. In this guide, I'll walk you through the process of obtaining Kudos, starting with the basics and moving on to more advanced methods.

How to Earn Museum Kudos Guide in OSRS (1)

Getting Started: Earning Your First 28 Kudos

The first 28 Kudos are relatively easy to obtain and require no quests, stats, items, or teleports. To start, head to the basem*nt of the Varrock Museum, where you'll find an NPC named Orlando Smith. Talk to him and select the first option to begin the Natural History Quiz.

Natural History Quiz

The Natural History Quiz involves answering questions about various creatures found throughout Gielinor. There are 14 displays in total, each containing a plaque with six questions. To earn Kudos, you need to correctly answer three out of the six questions on each plaque.

If you're using the RuneLite client, you can enable a plugin that shows the correct answers directly on the screen, making this process even easier. Alternatively, you can follow the answers provided in this guide or a similar resource.

Here's a step-by-step breakdown:

1. Go to the Northwestern Display: The first display features a lizard. Interact with the plaque and answer three questions correctly. You'll receive 2 Kudos for your effort.

2. Continue to the Other Displays: Move to the next display, answer the questions, and repeat this process for all 14 displays.

By the end of the quiz, you should have accumulated a total of 28 Kudos. Return to Orlando Smith to claim your reward: 1,000 Slayer experience and 1,000 Hunter experience.

From 28 to 78 Kudos: Cleaning Specimens

Now that you have your first 28 Kudos, it’s time to move on to the next method—cleaning specimens. This activity can be done on the main floor of the Varrock Museum.

Requirements

• Quest: The Dig Site (Required)

Items: None, but it’s recommended to have at least five empty inventory slots.

Cleaning Specimens

1. Access the Specimen Room: Enter the gated area next to the museum guard and proceed to the specimen tables. Here, you’ll find various tools on the wall. Take a cleaning kit and equip the boots and gloves.

2. Collect Specimens: Next to the gate, you’ll see Digsite specimen rocks. Click on them repeatedly until your inventory is full of uncleaned finds.

3. Clean the Finds: Use the uncleaned finds on an empty specimen table. As you clean, you'll receive various items. The items you're interested in are:

▫ Pottery (Any)

Old Blue Symbol

Old Brown Symbol

Ancient Coin

Old Coin

These items have a drop rate of 1 in 17, so it may take a few inventories to collect them all.

4. Store or Drop Extra Items: You can store unwanted items in the storage crate nearby or simply drop them. There's a small chance to receive an XP lamp granting 500 experience, but this is generally not worth the effort unless you’re aiming for a specific skill XP.

5. Identify and Place Artifacts: Once you have all five required items, use them on the sitting archaeologists in the room. They will tell you which display cases to place the items in.

Old Blue Symbol: Display case north of the museum guard.

Old Brown Symbol: Display case to the north.

Old Coin: Display case near the guard.

Ancient Coin: Display case just north of the Old Coin display.

Pottery: Place it in the display case north of the Ancient Coin display.

Each of these actions will grant you 10 Kudos, bringing your total to 78 Kudos.

From 78 to 153 Kudos: Quest-Based Kudos

To push your Kudos count from 78 to 153, you’ll need to complete various quests that unlock additional Kudos when you report your findings to Historian Minas on the first floor of the museum.

Reporting to Historian Minas

1. Talk to Historian Minas: Located on the first floor of the museum, select the option to report your findings. Each completed quest that involves historical knowledge will grant you 5 Kudos.

2. Quests to Focus On: Many quests contribute to Kudos, but notable ones include:

What Lies Below: After completing this quest, retrieve the Dagon'hai history book from the Varrock Library and deliver it to Historian Minas for an additional 5 Kudos.

Bone Voyage: Requires 100 Kudos and allows access to Fossil Island, where more Kudos can be earned.

If you've completed enough quests, you should be able to reach 153 Kudos with ease. If not, consider completing additional quests or moving on to the next method.

Alternative Methods to Earn Additional Kudos

If you find yourself short of the required 153 Kudos, there are a few alternative methods to earn more:Verience lamp. This method can be time-consuming but is a reliable way to earn extra Kudos.

Once you've achieved 153 Kudos, you can proceed to complete the Varrock Hard Diary or start the Bone Voyage quest, depending on your goals.

Claiming Additional Rewards

With your Kudos in hand, there’s one last thing to do—claim additional experience rewards.

Talking to the Information Clerk

Near the entrance of the museum, you’ll find the information clerk. Talking to them will grant you experience based on the amount of Kudos you have accumulated. This experience is given directly, so if you’re playing on a restricted account (e.g., a Skiller or Ironman), be cautious before accepting these rewards.

Conclusion

Earning Kudos in the Varrock Museum is a rewarding activity that unlocks new content and provides valuable experience. By following this guide, you can efficiently earn up to 153 Kudos, complete important quests, and enhance your RuneScape journey.
