VALORANT Episode 9 Act 1 has commenced with the launch of patch 9.0, which has introduced a plethora of updates and optimizations. The newest update has introduced the much-awaited Iso nerf alongside new conversation voice lines between a long list of agents. The E9A1 has also brought various updates and fixes to the recently launched VALORANT console beta, focusing on elevating the overall gaming experience.

New Conversation Voice Lines

New conversation voice lines between the agents have been added across all platforms, which includes the following:

  • Phoenix, Harbor, Brimstone, Yoru, Raze, Iso, Sage, Neon, Gekko, Skye, Deadlock, Omen, Kayo, and Reyna.

Iso Nerf (PC)

The much-awaited Iso nerf is among the key VALORANT Episode 9 Act 1 updates. With the 9.0 patch, Riot Games has decreased the duration of Iso’s Double Tap buff. At the same time, the developers have also removed the refresh that comes with securing two kills. After the recent patch, he can now only extend Double Tap buff by shooting the orbs that spawn (when buff is active).

  • Double Tap (E): Duration: Reduced from 20 seconds to 12 seconds
    • The signature kill reset removed

Apart from the Iso nerf on PC, Riot Games have enhanced Sova’s Owl Drone’s from 60 to 100, exclusively on the consoles.

  • Developers have added Abyss to the Ranked map pool.

  • The Competitive Mode is live on consoles.
  • The Competitive Mode map pool includes:

Console

  • Developers have added a new “Controls Preset” selection screen, which pops up upon first boot-up before loading into the tutorial
    • There is a choice between VALORANT-specific and traditional console FPS preset.
    • Players can readily change their preset and customize controls via in-game Settings menu.
    • The console features more polished sound transitions between Focus and ADS.
    • Devs have updated the crosshair presets to reflect a better variety of usable crosshairs.
    • They have also updated the Fighter controls preset. (Crouch is a Hold action instead of a Toggle action).
    • Developers have also added the “holistic Aim Sensitivity slider.”
  • Developers have added the ability to enter precision mode while players are in control settings, which will allow them to adjust sensitivity sliders by .1 increments.

Welcome to the

  • The teams in Contender that earned a promotion in Stage Episode 8 Act 3 are in the Invite Division. These teams will get an opportunity to make it into a Challengers League, provided they finish at a high enough rank.
  • After the E9A1’s start, the Contender and Invite Divisions will play a little differently:
    • They will have a strict rematch protection in weekly matches, that will prevent the players from matching against the same opponents more than once in a Stage,
    • Teams will receive a Bye, with a match win and 100 points, if they don’t find an appropriate match in the queue.
    • The award for losses is zero points.
    • The finals in the playoffs are best-of-three matchups.
    • The devs have introduced extra roster restrictions for the teams in Contender and Invite Divisions.

VALORANT Episode 9 Act 1 Social Updates – Console

  • The communications menu has been updated, which makes it simpler to manage the team and party voice on the fly.
  • Devs have also added Voice Chat to the Settings page for consoles, which will allow players to tweak the mic behavior and voice settings.

  • Devs have fixed an issue where Iso’s shield hitbox could be misaligned.

  • An issue with Jett’s Tailwind (diagonal dash) has been fixed. It was reducing the dash length.

  • EOG Screens: An issue where players were seeing Draw as an incorrect result for Team Deathmatch has been fixed. (Consoles)
  • Devs have added specific scoreboard screens for TDM and Deathmatch. (Consoles)

Gameplay Systems

  • Mystbloom collection: A particle issue when using ADS on the Level 3 and 4 weapon skins has been fixed.
  • When exiting Cypher’s Spycam an issue used to make his hands stutter for Spectators. The same issue has been fixed with the 9.0 patch.
  • CONSOLE
    • Devs have fixed an issue where both Focus and ADS sounds would play during transitions.
    • The issue of Leave Game menu persisting through AFK idling has been fixed.
    • They have also fixed an animation bug with Leave Game Menu.

Maps – Abyss

  • Developers have fixed several “unintended boost positions.”
  • The bugs that allowed players to get under the map have been fixed.
  • After the update, the A Site cover should now properly appear in Omen, alongside the Astra smoke targeting world.
  • Developers have fixed an Omen exploit which allowed him to get between the spawn barriers.

Social

  • Developers have fixed an issue on consoles where the “friends list” would sometimes display inaccurate platform information.
