The Problems You’ll Solve

The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator will lead volunteer and capacity building programming for city agencies to increase their ability to engage residents in volunteerism. The Strategic Partnerships Coordinator will report to the Senior Advisor, Strategic Partnerships and collaborate with other NYC Service Staff. The primary focus of this position will be the NYC Service Bureau, Resident Volunteer Corps, and community outreach. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

NYC Service Bureau Grant Support

  • Manage partnerships with strategically identified city agencies to lead in the development and implementation of city agency volunteer projects.
  • Develop and implement City agency volunteer program plans with partners using management tools, training, and resources to build and/or expand volunteer management programs.
  • Track Service Bureau agencies (including mid-year and end of year reports) as well as supporting volunteer engagement numbers and metrics.
  • Develop annual progress reports on city agency volunteer impact metrics.
  • Lead and plan regular check-ins with Service Bureau partners to assess volunteer engagement and planning progress.
  • Identify new City agency collaboration opportunities and/or divisions to further expand partnerships.
  • Work with the NYC Service National Service team on aligning the service bureau process and the AmeriCorps host site outreach timeline.
  • Support the NYC Service National Service Team with AmeriCorps host site outreach.
  • Work with the Senior Advisor, Strategic Partnerships to continuously refine and develop the NYC Service Bureau model.

Resident Volunteer Corps (RVC)

  • Support the Resident Volunteer Corps program to connect New Yorkers with volunteer opportunities within city government.
  • Manage operational processes for intaking volunteers.
  • Partner with City Agencies to collect service projects for RVC volunteers.
  • Work with RVC volunteers as their first point of contact when looking for volunteer opportunities.
  • Support the ongoing orientations for the incoming RVC volunteers.
  • Lead the quarterly large-scale service day projects for the RVC cohort.
  • Develop a report to show the mid- and end-of-year impact of the RVC volunteers.
  • Administer surveys at the end of each volunteer experience to track the satisfaction of the RVC program and collect volunteer impact stories.
  • Support the Senior Advisor, Strategic Partnerships with presentations to promote the RVC program.
  • Host regular check-ins with volunteers to gain knowledge and feedback on their service experience.

Lead the creation and implementation of workforce development workshops for RVC Volunteers.

General NYC Service Outreach

  • Support with tabling and outreach events for NYC Service. This is a shared responsibility across the office for everyone to participate in during the year.
  • Updating the NYC Service outreach tracker with any event shared by city agencies and other partners.
  • Presenting on all programs at NYC Service and sharing volunteer knowledge with community members.
  • Focused outreach on the Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE) neighborhoods, NYC community events and NYC high schools and colleges.

External Project Coordination

  • Support the general expansion of the teamNYC program by connecting newly recruited and current corporate partners with skills-based volunteer opportunities within city government.
  • Develop new partnerships projects for volunteer coordination.
  • Support the recruitment of new city agencies for the teamNYC initiative.
  • Review and edit submitted volunteer descriptions.
  • Coordinate with teamNYC to post volunteer opportunities to the website portal.
  • Lead the weekly teamNYC update calls with corporate partners.
  • Track the status of the volunteers and update hours for the volunteer service.
  • Distribute pre and post surveys for all volunteers.
  • Support on updating the contract for new corporate partners joining teamNYC.
  • Data collection and reporting on the impact of volunteer projects.

Advance NYC Service Mission, Values, and Goals

  • Represent NYC Service at select events.
  • Be available on select weekends and on select evenings for projects.
  • Provide project support with other service activities and programs, as needed, including emergency volunteer response.
  • Support City initiatives as needed, including but not limited to possible emergency response and recovery.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR High School Diploma + 3 years relevant experience (Minimum)
  • Commitment to service year programs and volunteerism
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and a flexible work style in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of managing against goals and working under tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint, Outlook (Salesforce, a plus)
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and creatively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to and provide support for internal staff and external partners.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work beyond traditional working hours and schedules, as needed.
  • Prior experience conducting training, a plus.
  • Experience working at NYC nonprofits and/or agencies, a plus.
  • Direct volunteer coordination experience, a plus

Salary

The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $64,000.
